Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal is recognized as a prestigious institution known for its unique work culture and academic standards. Established in the year 2006 as a private, unaided, multi-faculty girls degree college, today the college has post graduate and research wings added sequentially one after the other. Development and growth of the institution in past 10 years has been phenomenal and we have excellent track record both in academics and extra-curricular activities. The college is hosting about 17 different types of courses with option for large variety of subjects spread over 4 faculties, Arts, Commerce, Education and Science. New market driven courses & subjects are regularly added.
The college is recognized by National Level Statutory bodies and the State Government. The college is awarded 2(f) and 12(b) status by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi has recognized the college to run B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses. The college is accredited by NAAC twice, firstly for Department of Education in September, 2014 and again for the entire institution in March, 2015. Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh has accorded No Objection Certificate to run various courses under their usual mechanism of institutional recognition. College is affiliated to Barkatullah University, Bhopal and they have given us Permanent Affiliation. The university has also given approval to the college to work as University Examination Centre since 2009. It reiterates the ethical values nurtured by the institution in showing its commitment to maintain sanctity of education system in general and examination system in particular.
It is heartening to put on record that the student strength has increased almost five times the initial strength. Qualified and competent teachers are appointed, Laboratories are strengthened, Library is enriched appropriately and more clarity in vision is acquired. Transparent, capable and motivating management propels the institution towards achieving excellence through quality education.
Six undergraduate batches have passed out; we feel contented to see the brilliant performance of our students in University examinations which is a dependable and accurate parameter to assess quality of any educational institution. Our students have come out with flying colors and have brought laurels to the institution by bagging university merit positions every year. The overall result is almost 100% except a few instances.
Journey of 10 years needs to be reviewed with retrospection to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the Institution and also to take care of opportunities and challenges for future. We tried to make a SWOC analysis of Institution with rational and logistic approach in order to design future policy map for the Institution. Learning from our past experience and consolidating our strengths is the basis for our planning process. Repeated reviews and regular stock taking of various programs has helped us to groom our policy document efficiently. We are also aware of the future challenges due to cut throat competition and market dynamism in the field of education, specially Higher Education. The demand and popularity of various courses/programs keep on changing and the Institution has to adjust and mould itself accordingly. The openness of our vision and vigilant planning by academic experts is able to give proper direction to our short-term, mid-term and long-term plans.
We feel this is the most opportune time to assess our progress of past 10 years across a set of parameters, ranging from infrastructure to academics and ultimately to quality issues. We propose to organize series of meetings with our stakeholders, specially the students and alumnae to take a critical feedback and to build a revitalized policy plan for next 5 years. While preparing a ourselves for the process of accreditation by NAAC, we have evolved to understand the concept of quality and to identify the quality parameters. The hard work put in by each individual is praise worthy and has helped everyone in his/her personal grooming. We have understood our system well and we have identified our short comings, and working to eliminate them.
Next few years are very critical for the institution with reference to its growth and viability. We are sure that with the support of students, teachers and parents we will be able to face the challenges. We solicit cooperation from one and all in our journey towards qualitative excellence.
