The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of armed Forces with its headquarter at New Delhi. NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities, with a distinct emphasis on Social Services, Discipline & Adventure Training. The NCC is headed by a Director General with the rank of Lieutenant General. He is assisted by 2 additional director generals (A & B) of two-star ranks. The NCC is open to all regular students of schools & colleges on a voluntary basis. The Cadets are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps. The main benefit of NCC apart from personality developing skills, is the certificate you get. After completion of training & fulfilling other conditions like attendance etc., the candidate gets the certificate from NCC. All the regular students of schools & colleges can join the NCC on a voluntary basis. The students have no liability for active military service. The minimum age limit to join NCC is 13 years & the maximum age limit is 26 years. The minimum acceptable height for male candidate is 157.5 cm. For women candidate minimum acceptable height is 152 cm.

The NCC is a responsive, learning & continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain core values. These include the following:
NCC certificate holders in age compete in UPSC examination for commission through IMA (Indian Military Academy) or OTA (Officers Training Academy)
NCC is not just any other organization that trains youth for the defence of the country, although it was started with this aim, but today, it has come a long way from then & the aim of NCC is developing character, unity, comradeship, discipline, the spirit of adventure & ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained & motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the national regardless of which career they choose.
