The Department of Food and Nutrition has a mission to mold the entrant into a globally competent ‘Nutrition Expert’ and versatile citizen by educating her in a professional environment.
We always try to follow the vision of Santji in empowering women. In view of this, the department encourages women to participate actively on national and international levels and contribute to the fields of food security, citizens’ health, the wellbeing of common people and quality of life of the population.
From the year of its establishment, the Department is making its strong presence in the BU merit list, securing 4-5 positions every year consistently.
The SHGC Nutrition students secure good placements. The department participates in almost all intercollegiate debate competition and speech competitions. The students have shown their talents in various fields like acting and got the first prize in a skit competition organized by a famous multispecialty hospital in which all private colleges of the city took part. Students share nutrition-related knowledge at prayer meetings on various observance days.
Every year in Nutrition Week department organizes different kind of activities to create the awareness towards the importance of Nutrition in life. This year it was series of International webinars. The department had organized various competitions on World Diabetes Day and many schools took part and join hands with the department to fight against the disease.
The subject offers not only jobs in private & Govt. sectors but several business in food production field and it is a matter of lifelong importance.
